WELCOME TO THIRD EYELAND PARTY ‘24!

Third Eyeland Party returns to Galveston Island Brewing on Saturday, April 20th, 2024. As Galveston’s only psych-focused music and arts festival for five years running, Third Eyeland Party offers an authentic artist-run and locally brewed experience that is uniquely Galveston.

Third Eyeland Party features two stages that alternate programming — so you never miss a set. Each stage has evolved its own distinct personality:

Walk through the Earth Day vendor market to discover the Sun Stage, which leans psych, garage, heavy, and shoegaze. Live visuals by TV EYE Media and art installations by local artists transform the lawn and covered deck.

The indoor Factory Stage (named for the industrial canning line in the background) leans experimental, noise, and ambient during daylight hours. When night falls, fog and lights transition the space into a dark wave and post-punk club with a mezzanine overlooking the action.

Visit the Galveston Island Brewing taproom for beer, wine, cider, and NA options.

In addition to the Earth Day-themed vendor market, food pop-up Noodle Ill’e’gal and a food truck will be on site. Stay tuned for our second wave lineup announcement!

About the team

Third Eyeland Collective is a Galveston event production and promotion team specializing in psych, garage, experimental, shoegaze, post-punk, and more.

The collective is powered by five multidisciplinary Galveston-based artists and musicians:

Lead Organizer Melanie Starr Stone, Jaron Hall, Sierra Sakel, Charles Eddy (Charlie Don’t), and Lauren Villarreal Eddy.

The collective works closely with Galveston Island Brewing to produce the annual Third Eyeland Party, and was awarded a City of Galveston Cultural Arts Commission grant for their 5th annual Third Eyeland Party for year 2024.

In addition to the flagship event, Third Eyeland brings regional, national, and international talent to a variety of Galveston venues with the goal of enriching Galveston’s music and arts culture. Our ultimate vision is a Galveston that is a magnet for touring bands and an ideal place to call home for bands, musicians, artists, and lovers of local events and culture.

The Well

Austin, Texas

  • WEBSITE thewellband.org

    INSTAGRAM @thewellband

  • The Well walk an intriguing line between authentic early 70s doom/heavy psych, the frayed weirdness of dark folk/goth -especially with their haunting unison male/female vocals - with a stark vibe of post-punk acts like Joy Division and early The Cure.

The band's intense -- "possessed" -- live performances have earned them featured slots at international festivals including Levitation, Desertfest, Psycho California, Sonicblast Moledo, Blowup Helskini and a slot on the legendary RockPalast. Their extensive touring history has taken them through North America, Europe, Scandinavia and Nepal with the likes of 1000mods, Kadavar, All Them Witches, Black Tusk, etc.

Sugar Candy Mountain

Oakland, California

  • Helping to spearhead a revival of neo-psychedelic pop, California's Sugar Candy Mountain fuses sunny, retro sounds with lush, sophisticated composition. Blending classic '60s West Coast psychedelia with pastoral folk and pulling inspiration from pop experimentalists and Brazilian Tropicalia.

Their latest album "Do Right" takes a more modern approach layering vibrant synths alongside more organic instrumentation. Oscillating between the hazy psychedelic pop of Mild High Club, the driving energy of Tame Impala and the danceable familiarity of The Supremes, the band is a perfect cocktail of old and new, imploring the listener to take a ride into the sunset with Sugar Candy Mountain.

URBAN HEAT

Austin, Texas

  • The band formed in 2019 when multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jonathan Horstmann enlisted Kevin Naquin and Paxel Foley to form a live show based on his analog sound design. The result fuses dark 80's stylings with modern flourishes, with Horstmann's throaty baritone delivering musings on existence and romanticism against an unrelenting industrial gothic pulse.

Their live show is undeniably energetic and engaging, earning them slots at Austin's Levitation and Seattle’s Freakout Fest in 2021. They released 6 singles between 2019 and 2022 and while the pandemic saw their SXSW 2020 performance canceled, they returned in 2022 as official artists.

HAUNT ME

San Antonio, Texas

  • Haunt Me is a three piece band from San Antonio, TX whose sound can best be described as a fusion of Post-punk, Darkwave, Indie and alternative music.

The band was formed back in 2021 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Darius Davila and also consists of members Hilario Bautista who handles guitar and synth during live shows and Joey Rico on bass.

India Tigers In Texas

Galveston, Texas

  • A mixture of lysergic awareness and impending destruction flavors the music of India Tigers in Texas. The sounds of warped, fuzzed out guitar leads brings to mind cascading neon waves on a desolate shore post-apocalypse, and all that survived the torrent was a single group of psychedelic vagabonds that assembled to become the guiding beacon of a new revolution.

Since the release of their debut album, India Tigers in Texas have quickly carved a seat for them selves at the Texas psychedelic table. They have shared the stage with luminaries of their genre such as The Shivas, Death Valley Girls, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Acid Mothers Temple, Alex Maas, Christian Bland and the Revelators, and Bubble Puppy. With new material being recorded this spring, you can expect the band’s signature take on psych garage to evolve in novel directions, while they continue to bring high energy and mind bending sets to their live performances that fans love.

YOUNG MAMMALS

Houston, Texas

  • Young Mammals is a Houston-based band known for their dynamic sound and captivating performances. With catchy melodies and a distinctive blend of post-punk and indie influences, they have established themselves as a notable presence in the local music scene.

EMP

Houston, Texas

  • WEBSITE emphtx.com

    INSTAGRAM @emp.tx

  • EMP is a Punk/Jazz Fusion band based in Houston, Texas. With a sound that is equal parts Killing Joke, Frank Zappa, and Black Flag, EMP has quickly gained renown in their local and regional communities.

This is not a sound you've heard.  This music does not fit nicely into boxes of preconceived genres. What the songs of EMP will do is get you off your ass and make you feel something.  A unique trio consisting of vibraphonist, Alex Erhardt, bassist, Nathan Mays, and drummer Maxx Salazar.

LOOSE SCREWS

Houston, Texas

  • Loose screws is a studio located in Houston TX that works in community building, experimental performance, paper mache installation, and up-cycle design.

TV EYE MEDIA (LIVE VISUALS)
